The Cathedral

The Cathedral

Notre-Dame de Chartres, a gothic building, was constructed immediately after the fire of 1194 that ravaged the XI century Roman cathedral. Listed a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981, Notre-Dame de Chartres Cathedral was first classified as an outstanding monument of human interest in 1979. The first great gothic cathedral to receive this designation, a visit is a must. This remarkable ensemble stands out for the size of its dazzling stained glass windows, its architectural uniformity and the beauty of its three sculpted portals. Crypt, vault, steeples, transept… Chartres Cathedral is a jewel that must be explored.
